More than 300 Mothers Union members of Eldoret Anglican Church of Kenya held a peaceful march in the town to pray for peace ahead of 2012 elections.
The women marched from St Paul's ACK church to the Huruma grounds where they held prayers.
National provincial Mothers Union co-coordinator Salome Leipa led the women in lighting candles and washing the feet as a sign of humility the same way Jesus washed his disciple's feet according to the teachings of the Bible.
She urged the leaders who are vying for various positions to preach peace as a way of promoting healing and reconciliation.
Leipa appealed to politicians to be tolerant of each other and desist from propagating hate speech to avoid a repeat of 2007/2008 clashes.
"During conflict women and children are the ones who are mostly affected,"said Leipa.
Bishop Nduati Njehia of Nakuru ACK diocese and his counterpart from Eldoret Christopher Ruto advised the youth to stop being used by politicians to cause violence.
