Kilifi's best performer says girls can perform well if given support.
Speaking to the Star yesterday, Shadiya Abubakar Jeylan who obtained 414 marks from Tahdhib Muslim Academy challenged Coastal parents to support girls' education.
"If only girls were given enough support, we would not have early marriages, school dropouts and lack of competition among girls. I believe girls can perform better if given support from the society," she said. She challenged girls to work hard when given a chance to go to school saying they should believe in themselves.
"Most of us think good performance belongs to boys yet we have all been given brains. If girls apply themselves, they can top performers," she said.
