A round table conference was organised in Yaounde yesterday March 5.
Barely three days to the celebration of the 27th edition of the International Women's Day Cameroon women in the different sectors are making their voices heard through their activities. In this light, a one-day conference on the theme "Empower Rural Women: End Hunger and Poverty" took place at the Ministry of External Relations in Yaounde yesterday March 5.
Organised by the "Dynamics of Women in Cameroon Diplomacy," the event brought together cabinet ministers, members of the diplomatic corps and guests. The objective was for the women to show their support and solidarity with the rural woman. The event was presided over by the Minister of External relations, Pierre Moukoko Bonjo. The audience listened to presentations on topics such as "The promotion and protection of the rights of women in diplomacy," "Advocacy in support of rural women in the promotion agricultural development and food security" among others. The event was followed by an exhibition to show the hidden talents of women in diplomacy.
The women's association of the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, organised a round table discussion on the theme "Strategies of development in support of the rural world and women: The role of the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Rural Development." The event was presided by the Secretary General of the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Paul Tasong. Discussions focused on topics such as "Rural women in figures," "Rural women and government strategy in the fight against poverty," among others.
The Feminine Synergy for Energy and Water (SYFEE) also organised a conference on the theme of the Women's Day. The Inspector General of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, Georgette Hell, said it was an opportunity to reflect on the conditions of rural women and find possible solutions to their conditions. Also, the women of the Ministry of Transport organised a round table talk on the theme of the women's day. The women discussed topics such as "Rural women and governance," "Rural women and HIV/AIDS" and "Rural women and management of time." The women of the Ministry of Mines Industries and Technological Development on their part organised a conference on the theme "Agro-industrial processing: The way forward for development of the rural woman."
