In this section, Make Every WomanCount (MEWC) has gathered initiatives that are happening in the local, national and international level related to Women in general and particulary African Women. The announcement section includes a range of activities from individuals, Organisations such as surveys, primary research and dialogues with policy makers, petitions, conference, demonstration, opinion, Statement, Call for papers, etc..
The section aims to be a resource for all different types of opportunities to engage women in women’s rights issues.
In October 2010, the African Union launched the African Women's Decade (AWD) 2010-2020. The aim of the African Women’s Decade is to advance gender equality by accelerating implementation of Dakar, Beijing and AU Assembly Decisions on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (GEWE), through dual top down and bottom up approach which is inclusive of grassroots participation.

There, they will make decisions that will affect all of us, no matter where we live.This month the UN Commission on the Status of Women failed to adopt agreed conclusions at its 56th session on the basis of safeguarding "traditional values" at the expense of human rights and fundamental freedoms of women.
The Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA) is pleased to announce the 2012 session of its annual Democratic Governance Institute. It therefore invites researchers to submit their applications for participation in this institute to be held from 23th July to 11th August, 2012 in Dakar, Senegal.
In November last year CODESERIA held its annual Gender Symposium in Cairo, Egypt on the theme “Gender and the Media in Africa,” opening up a much needed platform on which gender and media scholars could renew reflection on the multi-faceted connection between media and gender in Africa.
iLive2Lead is holding its Young Women's International Leadership Summit in Washington, DC from June 24-30, 2012. We are accepting 50 young women, ages 15-20, from around the world who demonstrate leadership potential, and who are committed to utilizing the leadership skills they learn at the Summit to lead a service project in their communities.
