The level of corruption in Uganda has now reached unprecedented levels. And considering that since independence, the country has been led by men, all indications are that male leadership has failed the country.
It is for that reason that I suggest a woman should be elected president after President Museveni leaves power.
Experience seems to suggest that women are less corrupt compared to men. It is high time we started identifying potential women for the job. In my opinion, Parliament Speaker Rebecca Kadaga and Uganda Federal Alliance's Beti Kamya are so far the most appealing potential candidates.
In fact, given the trend of corruption in Uganda, where men are mostly cited, Uganda would do better with a female president.
Following the discovery of oil in the Albertine region and given the apparent lack of transparency in the oil sector - the reason why three male ministers are accused of bribery in the sector - a no nonsense female president is all we need.
I implore my Members of Parliament Michael Mawanda Maranga and Betty Nambooze to bring a motion in the House to compel Parliament to make a law that bans men and allows only women to stand for president in 2016? Though this might be a tall order, it is worth trying.
